Kids who receive free and reduced-price meals during the school year come from families already struggling to get by. When school’s out for the summer – and parents have more mouths to feed during the day – life gets even tougher.
Hopelink’s annual End Summer Hunger campaign – running April through August – fills that gap; ensuring that local children in low-income families have enough to eat during summer break.
You Can Help
When individuals, businesses, organizations, schools or community groups raises funds to help End Summer Hunger, children have regular access to fresh, healthy food; struggling parents can focus on getting back on their feet; and kids have a chance to just be kids.
One unique aspect of End Summer Hunger is a focus on kids helping kids through classroom coin drives. Young students learn about hunger in their community, while also realizing they can make a positive difference when their spare change is added together.
Businesses, churches, community groups or other organizations are also essential; helping hundreds of local families every summer through food and fund drives. Or you can create your own campaign, and host a fundraiser online. However you choose to get involved, we will help you every step of the way.
Healthy food for local kids + helping your community = a happier summer for everyone.
